Welcome to 800 MAIN, an Artist-in-Residence living space built from the ground up to serve a multitude of creative uses. Located in the heart of Venice, this site is two blocks from the famous Venice Boardwalk and beach, adjacent to the trendy shopping/restaurant district of Abbot Kinney Blvd., and walking distance to many of the area's historic and other unique sites.

This versatile space is equipped to host a business meeting or luncheon, your wedding or private party, photography shoot or film location. With minimal effort, our staff of highly trained planners can assist in all aspects to ensure your event comes off as expected. We maintain a list of local restaurants that can cater the event or you may provide your own favorite who might want to use our fully equipped commercial kitchen. For the convenience of business meeting users, we offer a wide range of audio and video equipment that can be configured as needed.
Spectacular 360 degree views from the rooftop terrace include the Santa Monica Mountains to the north, Marina Del Rey with the LAX flight path to the south, a sliver of the Pacific Ocean to the west and most of urban Los Angeles and Mount Wilson to the east. The rooftop is equipped with natural gas outlets for heat lamps or a fire pit, in addition to our in-house Viking BBQ, oven and stove. The long counter top with attached sink make it perfect for serving your favorite drinks.

The infinity edge lap pool is maintained for exercise swimming but doubles as a black bottom reflecting pond. Located parallel 14 feet above the sidewalk, street noise is reduced by this element of nature. Mermaids and Olympians have been known to frequent this natatorium.
Designed as a mini mansion, many features found in this state-of-the-art ecologically- friendly building are incorporated for customer convenience:
  • Programmable lighting throughout, including pool and street views, in addition to power outlets in floors and ceilings (DMX over Ethernet using ChamSys, MagicDMX controller)
  • Audio integration, amplification and speakers throughout, with line-in inputs at key locations
  • Video projection and screening areas
  • High speed microwave internet and redundant backup provided by fiber in all areas, hardwired as well as secure Wi-Fi
  • Fire sprinklers throughout
  • Industrial five stop elevator with a 3500lbs capacity, platform size of 5 x 7 Ft. and ceiling height of 8 Ft. (coming in Spring 2014)
  • Unrestricted electrical power (400A @ 220VAC Single Phase and 400A 220VAC Three Phase Delta 208V)

The second level above the street is intended to be a more intimate area. It provides three separate rooms with adjoining restroom and closet. The master room overlooks the swimming pool and patio below and features original antique wood and wonderful natural light on all areas. This room can serve as a bridal suite, activity area, makeup room or private living quarters.
Excavated 13 feet below the street level, the basement serves as a recreation room capable of retaining noise within the exterior walls 24/7. The floor area includes 2500 SF, approximately one half with 10 foot ceilings and the balance with a 21 foot high open steel frame roof. The basement includes a restroom and wet bar. The high ceiling can support up to 4000 pounds of suspended weight from the existing crane hoist or can be used for trapeze rigging for a silk scarf or other acrobatic performance. Electrical service in both single and three phase is ample for theatrical lighting or other performance equipment.

Parking Lot
Parking in Venice is like any other dense urban area that borders the beach: hard to find when you need a space. In response to this limitation, 800MAIN has established a close working relationship with our local public elementary school, Westminster Avenue. Located one short block from our site, they have the ability to accommodate over 1200 cars. Rental of their parking lot(s) contributes to the school fund which helps in the school garden, after-hours student programs and to purchase badly needed books and classroom supplies. Valet services are required to ensure visitor convenience and automobile security.
