Chris & Polly Wedding :: After a long and romantic courtship, our prior tenants and good friends decided to tie the knot. A traditional storybook celebration that was officiated by their friend Luke, an Australian news cameraman turned justice of the peace for the day (also a prior tenant and neighbor). With friends and relatives from around the world, this festive occasion was catered by Master Chef, Tony Mure of Ado restaurant. Besides the formal Italian dinner, the hors d'oeuvres and snacks were only topped by a late night rooftop fire pit where marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers created s'mores while the stories were told. The dance floor really rocked well into the night with music and stage lighting provided by DJ Herick Hell. But it was not easy planning the first event at 800MAIN; the invitations were in the mail before there was a City approved Certificate of Occupancy allowing the building to be used. With the backup plan to tent the parking lot at the neighbor's restaurant, event planner Brooke Avishay of Orange Blossom flowed with the uncertainty and pulled all the staging and personal staffing together perfectly at the last minute. Thank you, Chris and Polly, for inaugurating our new endeavor by bringing together all these wonderful and intimate memories… with love!

Halloween 2013 :: Held on Nov 1, this event was pitched as a Halloween / Day of the Dead Party. As it turned out it was also the BDay party for Morgan Tobias whose costume of the Black Swan was by far the cutest of the night. The music was provided by DJ Loboman (Eduardo Manilla) dressed as Robin of Batman and Robin. Refreshments were yummy for a BYOB event. Lots of dancing and getting to know many of the locals.

New Year's Eve 2013 :: The Yale a cappella group The Baker's Dozen are in LA to open for the Lakers Game on New Year's Eve. Two days prior we got our ticketing system online, so they asked our son, a fellow alumni, if we could throw a fundraiser party for them after their performance. Word spread quickly and in a matter of a few hours we sold over 175 tickets, enough to pay for all the refreshments and a small donation to the guys. Beer was donated by Golden Road Brewery who is also an alumni. The DJ was 6ixSeven who got a lot of feet a tapping for hours of fun. After the party, sleeping bags unrolled and the floors were covered by undergrads. The following morning everyone feasted on bacon, sausage and eggs along with fresh squeezed orange juice that was donated from the Venice Farmers' Market. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this a great vacation and party for these very talented guys.
